Skincare essentials: The perfect flight
We have always loved flying. And, today flying is easier than ever. Whether it is for vacations, official purpose or leisure, flying has become an important part of our lives. But, did you know that it is harmful for your skin? Yes! It is true. Read on to discover the adverse effects of flying on your skin.
The recycled air in the aircraft rips off the moisture from your epidermis making your skin look shallow, dry and exhausted. If you think makeup is the only way to salvage the situation, well, you are in for a shock. The secret is just the opposite, no make up!
Here are some more beauty hacks for a perfect skin when you are on a flight:
1.Prepare your skin in advance :- Hydrate your skin as much as you can the night before you travel. Your skin is going to be in extremely dry zone for a long time, so better to pamper it by applying moisturizing masks that contain honey, jojoba oil, aloe, olive oil and other such nourishing ingredients.
2. Cleansing :- Once you settle in your seat, remove all makeup. Dry conditions inside the plane can make the foundation appear scaly and caky by the end of your flight. You can use gentle cleansing wipes like Epique Makeup Remover wipes to remove your makeup.
3.Mist :- Cleansers, even if gentle, leaves the skin dry and vulnerable. Its best to use a good mist-spray right after cleansing to ensure your skin is hydrated without clogging pores. These sprays can be applied hourly, till you reach your destination. Make sure the mist you use has more hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid.
4. Moisturizer (with SPF) :- Apply a natural moisturizer that suits your skin type. It should have a good amount of SPF, because when you fly high, you are closer to the harmful radiations of the sun. Keep reapplying the moisturizer during the long flight, not only on your face, but also on nose, elbows, hands, as some body parts dry out quickly.
5.Eye creams :- The long flying hours take a toll on your eyes too. Eyes appear red and puffy by the time you land. Carry some lubricating eye drops and anti-fatigue eye serums to put life back in your eyes. Try to catch as much sleep as you can, nothing works better on your eyes & skin than a good beauty nap.
6.Lip balms :- Lips dry out quickly because of high altitudes and pressure so keep applying a hydrating lip balm to avoid cracked lips.
7.Hydrate your body :- To escape the drying affects in long haul flights, drink as much water as you can. It is extremely necessary to keep yourself hydrated from within, otherwise any face mask, moisturizer or spray will be of no use. It is best to prepare your body in advance by drinking water, fruit and vegetable juices 3-4 days prior to flying.
8.Eat right :- Airline food can be tempting but it can be extremely unhealthy for your skin. Coffee and alcohol are known to dehydrate body quickly. So stick to water and fruit juices. Processed snacks such as crisps and pretzels should definitely be avoided, as well as cheese and cold-cut meat which contains high amounts of sodium and will cause bloating while on-board. You can take along healthy snacks like fruits and nuts, these are skin friendly super foods.
